Just back from Turku, Finland. I read a paper at the 17th Finnish Music Researchers' Symposium on March 14. The abstract I submitted was entitled "Lessons from the Kinetic Past: Repetition and Trance in Industrial Social Formation."

Thank you to Kim Ramstedt and all of the organizers at Abo Akademi in Turku. It was a really great experience. Very interesting and inspiring.

Just by chance (!) Iegor Reznikoff was in town performing at the Turku Cathedral with a choir, so I was able to see that performance. Really incredible. Dr. Riitta Rainio, music archaeologist, told me about the performance. My plane was delayed by snow in Frankfurt, so I was unable to see Rainio's talk at the same conference, but we met in Helsinki afterwards.

More pictures from this experience soon...
Just rounding the bend on the first draft of my thesis....
